Screen Size and Resolution

The screen size on Google Nexus 7 2012 as well as on Google Nexus 7 2013 has been the same there is a huge difference between resolution and Pixel Per Inches (PPI).

Google Nexus 7 2012 came with the 800 X 1200 Pixel resolution where as Nexus 7 2013 comes with the 1920 X 1200. The latest Edition of Nexus 7 has 323 PPI and the 2012 model of Google Nexus 7 had 107 PPI which is still more than the iPad Mini.

Memory

On the previous version of Nexus 7 (2012) only 1 GB of RAM was provided and it came with 8 GB and 16 GB of Storage option. Whereas the latest Nexus 7 (2013) has 2GB of RAM and comes with the option for internal storages of 16 and 32 GB. No external SD card slots in any of the versions though.

Camera

Nexus 7 2013 has two cameras while the Nexus 7 2012 had only a front facing camera. The newest model of Nexus 7 2013 is coming with 5MP rear camera along with the 1.2 MP front facing camera. Older Nexus 7 2012 had only 1.2MP front camera and lacked the rear camera.

Processor And Graphics

Processors are the parts where the entire device performance depends. The Nexus 7 2013 comes with the Quad Core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU with 1.5 GHz of speed where the previous generation of Nexus 7 2012 came with the 1.2 GHz of Quad Core NVIDIA Tegra 3 Processor.

Certainly the latest model of Nexus 7 2013 outclassed the previous generation of Nexus 7 2012 completely.

Operating System

The latex model that is Nexus 7 2013 will be equipped with Android v4.3 right out of the box however Nexus 7(2012) is also getting updates for the latest JellyBean 4.3.

 Battery

Battery is one area where the previous Nexus 7 2012 model scores over the newest Nexus 7 2013. Nexus 7 2013 come with the 3950mAH of battery where as the Nexus 7 2012 has the 4325mAH battery.

    The newer model has been enhanced in almost all possible way due to which it was unable to create a big buzz last time. Whether it’s the display or the performance factor.. Nexus 7 has undergone a major revamp and this definitely makes sense in buying. Even though one can easily go for the previous one for a lesser prce but still i would be choosing the new model seeing the value for money factor.

    When Nexus 7 2013 comes to India it will be of no less than around Rs 25K. But still I would personally go for the Nexus 7 2012 because of the value for money thing. All i care about is a decent processor and an updated software.
